A glo HILO can look like the natural successor to a HYPER PRO. The catch is in the pack you put beside it: your existing HYPER sticks will not move with you. These are two different heating platforms, not two settings on the same device.
The short answer
glo HILO uses a quartz-based combination of resistive and infrared heating, starts in about five seconds and takes virto or rivo sticks. glo HYPER PRO uses external induction heating with HeatBoost, takes about 20 seconds in Standard or 15 seconds in Boost, and uses neo, veo and certain locally labelled HYPER sticks. Neither device accepts the other’s stick format.

How does each device heat its stick?
HYPER PRO belongs to the HYPER platform. BAT describes its technology as induction heating: an electromagnetic field heats the metallic tube around a compatible stick, transferring heat from the chamber. HeatBoost refers to HYPER PRO’s optimized circuitry and temperature profiles; it does not make a neo or veo stick suitable for HILO. BAT’s platform description · HYPER PRO specifications.
HILO starts a separate platform. Its quartz heating element combines resistive heating and infrared waves, which BAT calls TurboStart. BAT also introduced specially engineered virto and rivo sticks to work with this system. This is a change to both the heater and consumable, not simply a faster HYPER PRO. The product pages list approximately 370°C for HILO and up to 285°C/300°C for HYPER PRO’s two modes. Those published settings do not tell us which device delivers more nicotine, tastes better or is less harmful. We have not independently measured either device’s aerosol or compared health outcomes. Heat-up speed and session length: what changes in use?
The time saving is easy to see: BAT lists HILO as ready in about five seconds, while the original HYPER PRO takes 20 seconds in Standard and 15 in Boost. A five-second ready signal does not mean the HILO session ends after five seconds. HILO product data · HYPER PRO product data.
Standard mode
HILO: 5:10. HYPER PRO: 4:30. That makes the manufacturer’s HILO session 40 seconds longer, with a shorter wait before it starts.
Boost mode
HILO: 4:10. HYPER PRO: 3:00. The published HILO session is 70 seconds longer; the mode names alone do not imply identical heat or aerosol profiles.
Both are rated for up to 20 sessions from a full charge and around 90 minutes to recharge under manufacturer conditions. Real results depend on battery condition, ambient temperature and usage. Which sticks fit glo HILO and HYPER PRO?
Check the device family on the pack, not the glo logo alone. In the manufacturer catalog we checked, virto and rivo are exclusive to HILO/HILO Plus; neo and veo belong to the HYPER platform. Controls, app features and cleaning
glo HILO
Its EasyView screen displays essential status, while separate physical buttons select Standard or Boost. The myglo app adds functions such as adjusting the Standard session duration in supported regions. glo HYPER PRO
Turn the TasteSelect dial to Standard or Boost before starting. Its EasyView display tracks mode, battery and the remaining session. The manufacturer instructs owners to clean the heating chamber periodically with the supplied brush; its Greek guide specifies cleaning from both ends after every 20 sessions. Three checks before replacing a HYPER PRO with HILO
Read the packs you already use
If your preferred neo or veo variety is a major reason to keep your device, HILO is a full platform change. You cannot carry a stock of HYPER packs into the new system.
Confirm local virto and rivo availability
BAT’s ranges, flavors and app functions differ between markets. Check the actual sticks sold where you live and the exact model on their packaging before buying a device from another country.
Decide whether the differences matter to you
HILO’s faster ready signal, longer published sessions and lighter routine-cleaning requirement are concrete changes. Both models have Standard and Boost, an EasyView display and a manufacturer rating of up to 20 sessions per charge. We did not conduct a blind taste test.
virto, neo and the tobacco-free rivo and veo ranges contain nicotine. A different heater or a larger published maximum temperature does not establish a safer product. If you do not use nicotine, there is no reason to start for these features. BAT consumable descriptions · CDC health overview.
The practical choice
Final verdict: the sticks decide first
Choose HILO if you specifically want its roughly five-second start, longer manufacturer-listed sessions and virto/rivo stick platform, and those sticks are reliably available to you. Keep HYPER PRO if your neo/veo format already suits you and a 15–20-second start is a minor inconvenience. You still get two modes and an informative screen without changing your consumables.
There is no evidence in these specifications for an overall taste or health winner. The non-negotiable technical fact is that HILO and HYPER PRO sticks cannot be exchanged. For an existing owner, that change is more consequential than a few seconds on the start timer.

Does the higher listed HILO temperature mean better or safer results?
No such conclusion follows from a device specification. Temperature alone does not describe aerosol chemistry, nicotine delivery, taste preference or health effects. Neither model is risk-free; nicotine is addictive. CDC overview.
Is HILO Plus the same device as HILO?
