Found an old pack of TEREA and cannot tell whether the numbers on it are a date? Start with the wording on the pack. A production code, a printed date and the condition of the sticks answer different questions.

Do TEREA sticks expire?
IQOS Germany states that TEREA and HEETS do not have an expiration date, and that their quality depends on storage. That is a regional manufacturer statement, not a guarantee that any old pack remains suitable indefinitely. Follow explicit instructions on your own pack and ask local IQOS support about unclear markings. Read the official answer.

Is there a fixed TEREA shelf life?
IQOS Germany’s shelf-life FAQ sets no expiry deadline and directs customers with quality concerns to support. It does not promise that a pack will retain its original quality for a particular number of years.
We could not verify a manufacturer-backed worldwide TEREA limit of 6, 12 or 24 months in the sources reviewed. Treat an unsourced countdown cautiously, particularly when it does not identify the market or explain where the starting date came from.
IQOS UK gives those recommendations for LEVIA: 12 months from production and no more than 7 days after opening. That page covers a different product. It does not establish the same deadlines for TEREA.
TEREA expiry date, production date or pack code?
Read the label beside a number before interpreting the number itself. The table below is a reading checklist, not a claim that every TEREA pack carries all these markings.

A documented example: British TEREA packs
IQOS UK describes two markings: a DotCode on the side and a unique 12-character alphanumeric code on the base. Its guide presents them as identification features; it does not provide an expiry-date decoder.
This is useful evidence of what to look for on a UK-market pack. It should not become a universal diagram for Japanese, European or other regional packaging. For broader regional context, see our TEREA country guide.
How to check a TEREA pack with an unclear date
Our practical approach is to preserve the evidence before trying to interpret it:
Identify the pack
Record the exact product name and the language of the packaging. Keep the receipt or order record if available.
Photograph the complete markings
Take clear pictures of the front, back, base and coded side. Include any outer carton that carries additional information.
Separate readable dates from unexplained codes
Copy the complete text next to a date. If the pack contains only an unfamiliar string of letters and numbers, leave it undecoded.
Ask the relevant IQOS support team
Ask whether the marking identifies manufacture, a batch, an individual pack or a usage deadline. Include the purchase country and any known heat or moisture exposure.
We found no verified public TEREA decoder that can translate every regional pack code into a production or expiry date.
How long do unopened and opened TEREA packs last?
Unopened packs
A sealed pack still needs to be considered in context. The wrapper cannot tell you whether it spent weeks beside a heater or in a damp cupboard.
Consider the storage history as well as any clearly labelled date. “Still sealed” is not enough to settle a quality concern.
Opened packs
Keep the remaining sticks in their original pack and close it between uses. Retain the packaging if you need help identifying the product.
We did not verify a universal TEREA deadline after opening. Follow any instructions supplied for your specific pack instead of borrowing the LEVIA seven-day recommendation.
These are practical handling recommendations, not a shelf-life test. We have not established a number of days that makes an opened TEREA pack acceptable or unacceptable.
How should TEREA sticks be stored?
IQOS UK recommends room-temperature storage for TEREA, a clean and dry location, protection from direct sunlight and humidity, and avoiding prolonged exposure to low temperatures.
In practice, choose an indoor cupboard away from a radiator, sunny windowsill or damp area. Keep the pack protected from spills and crushing, and out of reach of children and pets.
Should you refrigerate or freeze TEREA?
Our recommendation is normal indoor storage, not refrigeration or freezing. That follows the manufacturer’s room-temperature guidance and warning about prolonged cold. We found no official TEREA instruction recommending a refrigerator, freezer or humidity-control pouch.
The same IQOS UK FAQ gives a 0–40°C operating range for the original ILUMA device. That is not a validated long-term storage range for a pack of TEREA.
What if TEREA is wet, crushed or damaged?
IQOS Armenia explicitly says not to use TEREA exposed to excessive heat or moisture. A date or an intact outer wrapper does not override that warning.

A different taste does not give you an expiry date
“This tastes different” is useful information for a complaint, but it cannot tell you when a stick was made. Neither can a weak session or an unfamiliar smell establish the age of a pack.
If something seems wrong, stop using the questionable pack. Record what happened, whether it affected one or several sticks, the device model, the full pack code and how the pack was stored. Report those details without guessing the cause.

Check the marking and the storage history
There is no verified universal TEREA countdown in the manufacturer sources reviewed. A production date, an unexplained code and an expiry instruction should not be treated as interchangeable.
Follow explicit pack instructions, keep the full packaging when asking for help, and take heat, moisture or physical damage seriously. When a code is unclear, manufacturer confirmation is more useful than an online decoding guess.

Do TEREA sticks expire after one year?
We could not verify a universal one-year TEREA limit. IQOS Germany says TEREA has no expiration date. Follow any explicit instructions on your own pack.
Where is the expiry date on a TEREA pack?
There is no confirmed universal position or format. Do not assume the code on the base is a date. Check the wording around the marking and ask the relevant IQOS support team if it is unclear.
Can I decode the TEREA batch number myself?
We found no verified decoder covering all markets. Send the complete code and pack photographs to support instead of applying a formula from another brand or country.
Must an opened TEREA pack be used within seven days?
That is not a universal TEREA deadline established by our sources. The seven-day recommendation on the IQOS UK page is for LEVIA.
Can I use TEREA after a pack gets wet?
IQOS says not to use TEREA exposed to excessive moisture. Drying the outside of a pack is not confirmation that the sticks are suitable to use.
Does a TEREA stick that still looks intact count as unused?
No. Appearance does not establish whether it has already been heated. IQOS specifies that TEREA is single-use; do not store a used stick for another session.
